When i heard about this i almost soiled myself!
Mechwarrior is responsible for days, weeks, years of my life. At one time i was a Nova Commander and second in charge of an outfit called Clan Death. We had players from australia, USA, Singapore and just as their geographical locations varied so did their ages. Starting with 13 all the way to 75. Our khan, Sovereign was 18 and a good leader. He graduated with a 4.0 from high school and went on to some ivy league yuppie hive and left the clan to me. By then it was falling apart and i was getting heaviliy involved in EVE-online. I maintained our forums and web site for a couple of more months after which i officially handed the clan over to Wombat, a skilled scrapper and experienced Nova Captain. Sovereign taught me how to use a mech in very successful ways. We had training sessions in which we taught gamers how to work like a team in a very strict environment. Sovereign always in charge, radio silence, he made sure everyone was in step and even trained us to have six mechs fire at the same target at exactly the same time. I guess even though i was second in command i was kind of his bitch because i put so much effort into this thing. Making sure everyone knew how to put our clan logo on their mech, running teamspeak server and helping everyone connect and use their mikes, this is almost ten years ago and teamspeak just came out. Quality was so bad that i sounded like chewbacca on helium. We had alot of good laughs. Most of the clan was unemployed like me at the time. I was at my parents in the garage using their dsl. They had two statics so i could setup a full time deadicated server which we used to recruit new players. I checked out what is left of the mechwarrior scene and the numbers are dwindling. The people that are still playing on public servers are really good and i got my ass handed to me.
Now with this new mechwarrior game coming out, maybe some life will return to this world that takes place a couple of thousand years from now. Peep this trailer.
