Katyń
Went to the Kabuki theater in San Francisco tonight with my mom and a family friend and saw Andrzej Wajda's "Katyń". This was a very tragic movie, very very sad story about the soviets in the beginning of WWII murdering 20,000 polish POW officers, university professors, engineers and other higher level intellectual people. The movie was well written and acted and it was not a hollywood movie, it did not have a happy ending. The movie was real. The movie was about truth and reality. There was no hero who barely escapes and kills two dozen bad guys and reunites with the girl in the end. In real life and in war, there is not too many happy endings. Poland, being a country between Russia and Germany, did not have too many happy stories to tell about what happened in 1940. Here's a link to the Wiki about Katyń .
