Cold steel hit me from the side and I fell down like rag doll. The blunt force of the scaled metal tail hit me without mercy. Once I hit the ground, a spike of lightning arced through the air and into my body and made a lightning rod out of my spine. I went into convulsions and a sharp, burning pain took over every nerve. As I flopped around like a dying fish I could not manage a single thought or action. The lightning stopped and a momentary lapse of reason uncovered a dark realization. The metal dragon like scales and a huge twisting tail, the lightning, I knew what it was. The black robotic creature was an Aklyvarkh and it was about to kill me. I still didn't know exactly who I was and how I got here and all the other convenient things that one always knows. But that didn't matter, because I was about to die. Another zap of lightning struck and I screamed so hard that I felt like my throat was jumping out of my mouth. So this is why most people confess under torture. When the zapping stopped, I looked up at my cruel tormentor with my burning eyes as he slowly slithered towards me. For my last attempt at living, I limped up onto my stiff legs and pushed myself up onto my feet, once upright I swayed back and forth and almost fell back down. Then the metal tail hit again, this time I flew across the room and thumped a stinky pile of sealed plastic garbage bags which were a godsend because they cushioned my fall.
I did not have the energy to try that again. I started making peace with myself and accepted death. It was easy, since I didn't remember who I was, I didn't agonize over anyone who would miss me. With blood burning my eyes and a crushing pain in my abdomen, quick death was my relief. It was truly amazing that I knew what the dragon mutant robot was but not who I was. This was not the time for self loathing, a small voice inside me was screaming at me not to give up. At that moment, part of the ceiling fell down along with a metal grate . A shadowy figure jumped down on to the ground. Judging by the graceful landing, it was his intention and not an accident. The monster twisted his scaly dragon head and turned towards the newcomer with a shriek of surprise, but before any reaction could be made, the hulking body came thundering down with a clanking noise. The newcomer's whip wrapped around the head of the Aklyvarkh and pulled him to the ground. The room spun into a whirlpool and that was the last thing I saw before loosing consciousness. The electric jolts and blunt force trauma have taken its toll. Someone has some explaining to do. That was the last thought that got past my concussion injured brain...
